Prebaked Carbon Anodes
Prebaked Carbon Anodes for aluminium electrolysis—high-strength, low-resistivity materials ensuring efficient current flow, stability, and metal purity.
Prebaked Carbon Anodes are essential components in the electrolytic production of aluminium, serving as the primary conductor of electric current in reduction cells. They are manufactured by blending calcined petroleum coke with coal tar pitch, then moulded, baked, and graphitised under carefully controlled conditions to ensure high mechanical strength, low electrical resistivity, and excellent chemical stability.
In the aluminium smelting process, prebaked anodes transfer current to the electrolyte, enabling the reduction of alumina into pure aluminium. The performance and quality of the anode directly influence energy efficiency, metal purity, and operational stability in the smelter.
Applications include:
- Aluminium smelting cells (Hall–Héroult process)
- Electrolytic refining operations
- Carbon block and cathode production
